早鞆学園高等学校の皆様へ

今年６月に交換留学のプログラムで、訪問させていただきましたWalt Whitman High Schoolのモーマンです。皆様の寛大なおもてなしと開放的な校風のお陰で、私達一行は大変有意義で楽しい時間を持つことが出来ましたこと、心より感謝しております。

ウイットマン高校の学生達にとって交換留学で一番良かった体験は何ですかという質問では全員がホームステイという答えが返ってきました。本当に貴重な体験を下さりありがとうございました。ホームステイの体験は受け入れ側と訪問側の両方が少しばかりですが、お互いの文化をシェアしたことだと信じます。

早鞆学園の吹奏楽部の演奏はプロのレベルでのパフォーマンスであり、大変感激いたしました。限られたプロとの練習であれだけのレベルに

高校時代に自分にとって、好きな事に出会うことができたら、それは一生つづけられるわけであり、人生を楽しく生きる大切な基調になります。そういう機会を龍谷高校は学生達に与えているのを知って、羨ましいとも思いました。

ウイットマン高校の特に女子学生生達は高校に制服があって羨ましいと言っています。その理由はアメリカの女子高校生は毎日何を着て学校にいくかという事に時間とお金を使っています。経済的な負担も大きいし、ファッションにも流されるので無駄な競争心からも解放されるからです。アメリカではこれはかなり深刻な問題なのです。

貴重な体験をたくさんくださりありがとうございました。皆様に日本あるいはアメリカで再会できますことを祈っております。

To Everyone at Hayatomo High School

I am Moorman from Walt Whitman High School, who visited your school this past June as part of an exchange program. Thanks to your generous hospitality and open school culture, our group had a very meaningful and enjoyable time, and we express our heartfelt gratitude to you all.

When asked what the best experience was during the exchange program, all of the Whitman High School students answered that it was the homestay. Thank you so much for giving us such a truly valuable experience. Although brief, we believe the homestay allowed both the host families and the visitors to share each other's cultures.

The performance by Hayatomo High School's wind orchestra was at a professional level, and we were deeply moved by it. To reach that level of performance with limited practice alongside professionals.

If you can encounter something you love during high school, it is something you can continue for a lifetime, becoming an important foundation for enjoying life. Learning that Ryukoku High School provides such opportunities to its students made me feel quite envious.

The female students at Whitman High School especially mentioned that they envy Japanese high schools for having uniforms. The reason is that American high school girls spend a lot of time and money deciding what to wear to school every day. Uniforms lighten the financial burden, prevent being swayed by fashion trends, and free students from unnecessary competition. In America, this is quite a serious issue.

Thank you very much for giving us so many valuable experiences. We pray that we will be able to meet you all again in Japan or the United States.
